PROFILE AND BACKGROUND
Josh has over 13 years of real estate experience, including his first seven as a real estate appraiser at the Leitner Group. In this role, he advised a client base that included domestic and international financial institutions, senior and mezzanine balance sheet lenders, CMBS and life insurance lenders, leading law and tax firms, REIT investors, developers, and government entities. Property types appraised included, but are not limited to, residential, office, industrial, retail, hospitality, student housing, self-storage, and mobile home parks. In addition to traditional market-value appraisals, Josh consulted on subsidized housing, partial/minority interests, multi-property portfolios, and estate planning.
Before co-founding Leitner Berman, Josh was a Senior Vice President at Meridian Capital Group, a leading New York City-based commercial mortgage brokerage firm. In this role, he was responsible for originating and executing commercial real estate loans for a variety of developers, investment funds, public vehicles, and individual investors. During his tenure at Meridian, Josh helped close nearly $10 billion of loan volume. Commercial Observer named Josh to its “Top 25 Debt & Equity Professionals Under 35” list in 2019. Additionally, he is a Certified Real Estate Broker for New York State.
Prior to working at Meridian, Josh was an underwriter and originator at Silverpeak Real Estate Finance (now Argentic Investment Management LLC), a privately-owned commercial real estate lender which specializes in CMBS, balance sheet, and subordinate debt lending.
